Priority One is the economic development organisation covering Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.  Its purpose is to build a vibrant economy that retains and attracts talented, skilled and creative people and the businesses that need them.  Unique in New Zealand, Priority One was established by the business community and operates at a strategic level in a partnership with the area’s local authorities.


The Tauranga Business Case

‘The Tauranga Business Case’ highlights the competitive advantages of Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty to attract new business to the area.  This includes the availability and cost of business land, easy access to transport infrastructure for domestic and international markets, quality labour resources, access to ultrafast broadband and an attractive quality of life.  Priority One helps businesses considering moving to the sub-region to smooth the relocation process, including linking them into the networks and services they need.


Tauranga Chamber of Commerce

The role of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce is to promote business vitality in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.  The Chamber offers training courses, networking events and business promotional opportunities.  It also supports business capability building through the provision of information, advice and a one-on-one mentoring programme. 


ExportNZ BOP

ExportNZ BOP is a membership organisation providing a voice for the strong exporting community that is based in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty in the support and development of international trade.  It is one of the most active export institutes in the country, providing high quality events, training opportunities and access to in-market expertise.  It also advocates for the exporting community through its national umbrella organisation, Business NZ.


Enterprise Angels

Enterprise Angels is a membership-based investment network and the largest Angel investor group in New Zealand.  It connects experienced investors with entrepreneurs and innovators in most industry sectors and at any stage of growth, from seed to post-revenue.  Enterprise Angels adds substantial support to the local entrepreneur community.


Sustainable Business Network

Sustainable Business Network is a membership-based social enterprise, made up of businesses, governmental agencies and organisations.  It helps business succeed through sustainability, providing advice and support to help business succeed sustainably and to progress their role towards contributing to New Zealand being a model sustainable nation.


Rocket Young Professionals

Rocket Young Professionals is a networking group that is facilitated in a partnership between the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce and Priority One.  The purpose is to provide young, working individuals in their 20’s or 30’s with opportunities to meet other like-minded people.  It also provides a collective voice for young people in the areas of regional economic development, local politics and business.


Ignition Coworking Space

Priority One’s Ignition coworking space provides a flexible environment for professional and creative people that understand the value of working alongside others in the dynamic environment.  It fosters innovation and increases productivity by providing a collaborative space for those that are self-employed, freelance, or are starting their own business.  It also acts as a launching pad for knowledge intensive people and businesses that are relocating to Tauranga or the Western Bay of Plenty.  Membership options are flexible – you can sign up for as much as 24/7 or as little as one day a month.
